European Carbon Farming Summit 2026 publications now available

Conference room filled with people.

Two new publications capturing the outcomes of the European Carbon Farming Summit (ECFS) 2026 are now available.

Held in Padova from 17–19 March 2026, ECFS 2026 brought together more than 700 in-person participants alongside a wider online audience, including policymakers, researchers, farmers, businesses, certification bodies, and civil society representatives from across Europe. Discussions focused on some of the most pressing questions facing carbon farming today, including financing, demand creation, MRV systems, policy implementation, and the integration of broader environmental and social outcomes.

The first publication, entitled Making carbon farming work in practice: Insights from ECFS 2026, provides an overview of the Summit’s key themes and reflections. The report explores how discussions around carbon farming are evolving from framework design towards implementation, highlighting the growing importance of robust MRV systems, finance orchestration, demand-side mechanisms, and integrated landscape approaches.

The second publication compiles recommendations emerging from the Summit’s parallel sessions. The document brings together practical guidance and reflections from across the European carbon farming community, covering topics such as MRV harmonisation, soil carbon, biodiversity, carbon markets, forestry, finance, and policy implementation.

Together, these publications reflect the increasing maturity of the European carbon farming landscape and the growing effort to translate carbon farming ambitions into credible and workable systems in practice.

The European Carbon Farming Summit is organised as part of Project CREDIBLE, funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe.
